Santosh Kumar Takes on a New Leadership Role at IBM

IBM has promoted Santosh Kumar to Head of Growth Marketing for India and South Asia, expanding his responsibilities after his tenure as APAC Ecosystem Marketing Leader.

Kumar announced the move on LinkedIn on October 28, 2026, describing it as a new chapter in his career at IBM. In his previous role, he worked closely with partners and distributors across the Asia-Pacific region, gaining experience in customer engagement and ecosystem-led marketing.

In his new position, he will focus on applying those learnings to growth marketing across India and South Asia, helping connect enterprise customers with IBM's solutions through relevant channels and engagement strategies.

Building on Experience in Ecosystem Marketing

Kumar has been with IBM for close to six years in his current period of employment, having rejoined the company in December 2020. His responsibilities have included marketing transformation, country demand strategy and regional ecosystem and alliance marketing.

Before returning to IBM, he served as Chief Marketing Officer at AXISCADES and held a performance marketing leadership role at Algonomy. Earlier in his career, he also worked at IBM in campaign planning, program management and marketing roles.

This experience spans demand generation, campaign execution, partner collaboration and marketing operations, all of which are relevant to enterprise growth marketing.

Focus on Customer Engagement and Business Growth

Kumar's announcement highlighted the importance of understanding IBM from the perspective of clients, partners and distributors. He plans to build on this experience by scaling effective marketing approaches and helping customers understand how IBM's offerings align with their business priorities.

He identified artificial intelligence, hybrid cloud, and automation as key technology areas important to enterprises across India and South Asia. Communicating the business value of these solutions will be key to connecting customer needs with IBM's technology portfolio.

His new role also reflects the importance of coordinating multiple engagement channels as enterprise buyers interact with technology providers through different platforms, partners and relationships.

What the Appointment Means for B2B Marketing

The leadership change highlights the growing role of integrated growth marketing in enterprise technology. For B2B companies, marketing increasingly involves more than generating awareness or leads. It requires connecting partner ecosystems, customer engagement and demand generation with wider business objectives.

Kumar's move from regional ecosystem marketing to growth marketing for India and South Asia brings these areas closer together. His experience working with partners and distributors could help inform strategies that connect marketing activities with customer requirements and business growth.

As enterprises continue to explore AI, hybrid cloud and automation, clear communication of business value will remain important for technology companies seeking to strengthen customer relationships and expand adoption.
