Meta has appointed Akshay Gandotra as its Global Marketing Lead for Business Messaging, strengthening its focus on enterprise engagement through messaging platforms and artificial intelligence (AI).

Gandotra announced his appointment on LinkedIn, stating that his role will involve developing executive engagement programmes for the WhatsApp Business Platform and Business AI. His focus will be on connecting C-suite leaders with opportunities at the intersection of AI and messaging and translating those conversations into business outcomes.

Focus on WhatsApp Business and AI

In his new position, Gandotra will work on marketing initiatives designed to help business leaders understand how messaging technologies and AI can support enterprise communication and customer engagement.

The appointment comes as businesses explore ways to integrate AI into customer interactions, automate communication and improve how they engage with customers at scale. Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform provides a channel for companies to communicate with customers, while its Business AI initiatives aim to bring AI capabilities into business interactions.

Gandotra’s role will focus on engaging senior business leaders and building awareness of these opportunities among enterprise audiences.

From Amazon Web Services to Meta

Before joining Meta, Gandotra spent more than five years at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he served as Global Partner Marketing Leader for SAP. He joined AWS in August 2021.

Earlier in his career, he worked with organisations including IRI and Infogroup, building experience across marketing and business leadership roles.

His background in partner marketing and enterprise technology is relevant to Meta’s efforts to communicate the business value of messaging and AI solutions to corporate decision-makers.

What This Means for Business Messaging

Gandotra’s appointment highlights the growing importance of business messaging as a strategic channel for enterprise communication and customer engagement.

As organisations evaluate AI-powered messaging, technology providers need to demonstrate how these tools can deliver practical business value, rather than simply introducing new features. Executive engagement and enterprise-focused marketing can play an important role in helping decision-makers understand potential applications and adoption opportunities.

Meta’s focus on Business Messaging and Business AI reflects the increasing overlap between conversational platforms, AI-driven experiences and enterprise marketing.
