TikTok is moving deeper into AI-powered advertising as brands look for ways to do more than simply reach audiences. The platform has announced a new set of advertising and commerce tools designed to help marketers identify interested users, generate leads, automate campaigns and make it easier for consumers to take action.

The announcements were made during Advertising Week New York 2026 and show how TikTok is trying to connect discovery, advertising and conversion within a more automated ecosystem.

From Advertising to Action

One of the biggest changes is TikTok's growing focus on agentic AI.

The company introduced Agentic Leads, an AI-powered lead generation solution designed to help businesses capture, qualify and convert high-intent prospects. The technology can work through TikTok Direct Messages as well as lead forms hosted on advertisers' websites.

Instead of relying entirely on a traditional form-fill journey, businesses can use AI-guided conversations to engage potential customers and collect relevant information. This could make the process more interactive while giving marketers another way to identify prospects showing genuine interest.

For B2B marketers in particular, this approach could be interesting because lead generation is increasingly moving toward qualification rather than simply collecting contact details.

TikTok Ad Network Comes to the U.S.

TikTok is also opening its TikTok Ad Network (TTAN) to advertisers targeting the U.S.

Previously known as Pangle, the network allows brands to extend campaigns beyond TikTok and reach audiences across nearly 400,000 apps globally. The network is integrated with TikTok Ads Manager, allowing advertisers to manage campaigns without creating an entirely separate advertising workflow.

TikTok says TTAN can also reach people who are not active on TikTok. According to the company's data, 50% of TikTok Ad Network users are not on TikTok, representing about 95 million incremental users.

This gives advertisers an opportunity to move from relying on a single platform to reaching audiences across a wider app ecosystem.

AI Is Becoming Part of Campaign Management

TikTok is also expanding automation across its advertising products.

Smart+ is being extended to Search Ads, helping advertisers automate areas such as keyword targeting, bidding and budget management. The company is also introducing Smart+ Creative Selection, which brings different creative sources into one approval workflow and recommends creative combinations based on campaign objectives.

TikTok is also expanding connections between its advertising ecosystem and external AI tools through its Model Context Protocol, or MCP.

The platform says its advertising MCP is now available through AI platforms and tools including Claude, Kimi, Manus, Perplexity, Replit and Snowflake. TikTok reported that advertiser use of its MCP for campaign activation and management increased by more than 200% between July and September 2026.

Shopping Is Becoming More Conversational

The company's AI strategy is not limited to advertising.

TikTok is introducing Buy Direct, allowing users to purchase products without leaving the app, along with a Shopping Assistant that can help users with questions about products, sizing, shipping and availability.

The idea is to reduce the distance between discovering a product and actually purchasing it.

This is an important shift for social commerce. Instead of sending users through several steps across different websites, TikTok is building more of the buying journey directly into the platform.

What This Means for Marketers

TikTok's latest moves point toward a broader change in digital advertising.

Marketers are increasingly looking for platforms that can help them manage the entire customer journey, from finding the right audience to generating interest and eventually driving an action.

For brands, AI could reduce some of the manual work involved in campaign management. At the same time, marketers will still need strong creative, clear messaging and a good understanding of their target audience.

Automation can help a campaign run more efficiently, but it does not replace the need for a clear strategy.

The Bigger Shift Toward Agentic Advertising

TikTok's latest products are part of a larger industry movement toward agentic advertising, where AI systems can take on more tasks across campaign planning, audience targeting, lead qualification and commerce.

The change is significant because advertising has traditionally required marketers to manage many individual steps manually.

As AI becomes more capable, platforms are trying to bring those steps together.

For marketers, the opportunity is not simply to use more AI tools. It is to understand where automation can improve the customer journey without making the experience feel impersonal.

Final Thoughts

TikTok's expansion into agentic AI shows that the platform wants to be more than a place where brands advertise through short-form video.

With Agentic Leads, TikTok Ad Network, Smart+ automation and AI-powered shopping tools, the company is building a broader ecosystem connecting discovery, engagement, lead generation and conversion.

For marketers, the bigger takeaway is clear: advertising platforms are moving toward systems that can do more of the work between a customer's first interaction and the final action.

The brands that benefit most will likely be the ones that combine these new AI capabilities with strong creative and a clear understanding of what their audience actually wants.
