Apple has achieved its highest-ever revenue in India during the September quarter of fiscal year 2026, highlighting the country's growing importance in the company's global business.
CEO John Ternus shared the milestone during Apple's fourth-quarter earnings call. He said the company recorded an all-time revenue high in India, alongside September-quarter revenue records across several major global markets.
The performance reflects growing demand for Apple's products and services in India, particularly as more customers upgrade their devices and become part of its broader ecosystem.
iPhone Upgrades Support Apple's Growth
India was among the markets where Apple recorded its highest number of iPhone upgraders for a September quarter. The company also achieved a global record for iPhone upgraders during the period.
Apple's Chief Financial Officer Kevan Parekh said the active iPhone installed base reached an all-time high. This indicates that the company's opportunity extends beyond attracting new customers to encouraging existing users to upgrade to newer models.
Globally, iPhone revenue reached $57.6 billion in the September quarter, increasing 17% year over year despite supply constraints and foreign exchange headwinds.
According to research cited during the earnings discussion, the iPhone was also among the top-selling smartphone models in India.
Mac and Services Businesses Reach New Highs
Apple's growth in India was not limited to smartphones. Its Mac business also recorded its highest-ever September-quarter revenue in the country.
Globally, Mac revenue increased 24% year over year to $10.8 billion. The company attributed this performance partly to demand for the MacBook Neo and MacBook Pro.
Apple's Services business also achieved an all-time revenue record in India. Globally, Services revenue increased 10% to $31.6 billion during the quarter.
The Services segment includes offerings such as the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud and other digital services. Its performance highlights how Apple's business increasingly depends on customers using multiple products and services within its ecosystem.
Apple Expands Its Payments Presence in India
Another development highlighted during the earnings call was the launch of Apple Pay in India through a partnership with Axis Bank.
The launch adds another payment option to Apple's growing services ecosystem in the country. Ternus noted that Apple Pay is now available in more than 90 markets worldwide.
The move also reflects Apple's efforts to expand its presence beyond hardware sales and strengthen its position in digital services.
India Becomes an Increasingly Important Market for Apple
Apple's latest performance highlights the growing significance of India in its global strategy. Demand for iPhones, expansion of the Mac business and increasing adoption of digital services are contributing to its presence in the market.
Globally, Apple reported September-quarter revenue of $114.5 billion, up 12% year over year. For fiscal 2026, the company reported record annual revenue of approximately $479 billion.
However, Apple has not disclosed a separate revenue figure for India, so the exact size of the Indian market's contribution remains unclear.
The latest results demonstrate that India's opportunity for Apple is no longer limited to smartphone sales. As customers adopt more devices and digital services, the company has an opportunity to build stronger relationships across its ecosystem.
Going forward, continued customer upgrades, product adoption and expansion of services could help Apple strengthen its position in one of the world's most competitive technology markets.
